Whichever team they face, whether it's Denver or Portland or even Houston or San Antonio, the Mavs do seem to know which players they'll be counting on.
Mavs coach Rick Carlisle, after nearly a full season of a revolving bench rotation, partly brought on by injuries and partly by an inability to find consistently dependable contributors, appears to have his top eight.
James Singleton, as of now—and that's a key phrase to remember—appears to be No. 9.
Jason Terry, J.J. Barea and Brandon Bass were the only bench players to play at New Orleans.

And, of course, point guard Jason Kidd also could play a major role in a playoff push with a little extra scoring.
More likely, though, what's going to determine if the Mavericks can claw their way above eighth place in the Western Conference is the play of James Singleton, Brandon Bass and Erick Dampier.
Without injured Josh Howard and Devean George, those three players must scrap for every rebound and point they can.
It didn't help that Dampier was a late scratch with a sore knee Thursday at Atlanta. Singleton and Bass combined for just 15 points and eight rebounds, yet the Mavs still managed to out-rebound the Hawks....
